Biannual Bibliothon TBR

Readathon / TBR

I’m super excited to say that I will finally be taking part in the Biannual Bibliothon for winter 2019. I always watch TBR’s for this on YouTube but never get around to looking up the prompts and planning my own, so as one of my 2019 goals was to partake in more readathons, this seems like a great place to start. It will be running from 12 – 18 January, but I will be doing it slightly differently. As I am on a pretty strict low-buy year for books I can’t read the group book or any of the hosts’ five-star reads (I have read most of them already!). So these are the prompts I will be following along with:

Read a book that got you into reading

For this, I will be reading Just Listen by Sarah Dessen. I first read this when I was 14 and it left a lasting impression on me. You follow a teenage girl called Annabel who seems to have it all – she’s a model, she is from a wealthy family, she has lots of friends- however after a traumatic experience at a high-school party her world changes forever.

It was one of the first books I ever read that dealt with *spoiler alert* sexual assault and the aftermath of that. It is a book way ahead of its time, and one that definitely got me into reading. I can’t wait to re-read it.

Read an adult genre

This seems like a great opportunity to read The Stone Sky by N.K. Jemisin the third book in the Broken Earth trilogy. I read and reviewed Obelisk Gate earlier this month and really can’t wait to finish off this series.

Combine your favorite genre with your least favorite format or the opposite

Even though I listened to quite a few audiobooks last year, they have to be my least favourite format. I never feel as connected to the story as I would if I read a paperback/hardback. For this challenge, I plan on listening to In an Absent Dream by Seanan McGuire.

As it’s one of my highly anticipated book releases of the year I was planning on buying it on Amazon but it doesn’t seem to be available at the moment 😦 So I’m going to use my book credit on the audiobook. This will be the ultimate Seanan McGuire test – if I can love a Wayward Children book on audiobook then it has to be good…

Read a book with a cover you don’t like

I had a look through my shelves and found Obsidian by Jennifer L. Armentrout. Oh my goodness it is a TERRIBLE book cover.

Read a book by an author you’ve never read before

For this challenge, I will be picking up The Star-Touched Queen by Roshani Chokshi. I’ve heard a lot of really good things about this author recently and I want to find out whether her books are as good as the hype. I’ll report back!

That concludes my modestly ambitious TBR for the next week of the Biannual Bibliothon! Are you taking part? What books are you planning on reading?
